Movie-Reading on Mac OS X

In macOS, there is only a single movie-file reading subsystem, designed mostly for reading h.264 and h.265 data. You may need to install the Apple Pro Video Formats package into macOS to read formats such as ProRes™ or certain MXF files containing ProRes, if it isn’t already installed.

SynthEyes has some residual code for reading and writing Quicktimes in older versions of macOS, which may or may not be usable depending on your setup.
