Reordering Viewport Layouts in the Layout Dropdown
Scenario. You want to customize the order of viewport layouts as they appear in the Layout dropdown on the top bar, ensuring your most frequently used layouts are listed first. (This approach also applies to reordering Rooms and Safe Areas.)
Open the Workflow Presets Manager. Go to Edit > Manage Workflow Presets.
Navigate to the Layouts Folder. In the left pane, locate the folder where layouts are stored (either /User/Viewport Layouts or /Scene/Current/Viewport Layouts).
Understand the Order Dependency. The order of items in this folder directly determines the order in the Layout dropdown.
Reorder the Layouts. Click and drag the layout presets within the folder to arrange them in your preferred sequence.
Verify the New Order. Close the Workflow Presets Manager and check the Layout dropdown in the top bar to ensure the changes are reflected.
Adjust as Needed. Reopen the Manager to fine-tune the order until the layout list meets your workflow preferences.
TIP: This approach also applies to reordering Rooms and Safe Areas—simply rearrange the items in their respective folders to customize their order in the corresponding dropdown menus.
NOTE: When you make changes to presets in the Presets Manager—such as reordering layouts or copying viewport layouts—the updates might not show up immediately in the SynthEyes UI. However, if you perform an action that triggers a refresh (like opening and then closing the normal viewport manager, or restarting SynthEyes), the changes will then be applied and become visible.
